(John A. O'Brien Professor of Philosophy, University of Notre Dame)
a renowned contemporary Christian philosopher

presented by
Matthew Flannagan

MsocSci 1st Class Hons, Philosophy (Waikato)
PhD candidate in Theology and Religious Studies (Otago)

Matt will outline Plantinga's approach to Christian apologetics (the defense of the Christian faith). He will explore his Reformed Epistemology which emphasises a presuppositional approach to apologetics, contrasting it with the evidentialist approach. He will examine the implications of Plantinga's approach to Christian scholarship and apologetics and address the question: Is a believer rationally required to give up his or her belief in the absence of any positive evidence in its favour?
