"Let us suppose that there were a land like Narnia and that, as he [Jesus] became a Man in our world, became a Lion there, and then imagine what would happen."
C S Lewis - 1954 Letter to Maryland 5th graders
The Chronicles of Narnia are a children's fiction series that draws much of its imagery and inspiration from the Bible story of God's redemption of a fallen and rebellious humanity. This fictional retelling puts Aslan as the Creator/Messiah who dies for His people (in a clear reference to Christ Jesus) up against the devious schemes of the White Witch (Satan).

C S Lewis became an Oxford don, and later Chair of Medieval and Renaissance Literature at Cambridge. He wrote many books, both fiction and nonfiction - many in defense and promotion of the Christian faith which this ex-atheist had embraced. The outline of his journey to faith is given in allegorical form in Pilgrim's Regress (1933). The Narnia series was his only children's work - but is also his most well-known.
