Actual video transcript is in black bold text, red bold text and pink text
The term "SINISTER MUSIC" (highlighted pink) is used 13 times by the Human Rights Action Group [HRAG] in the transcript.
Sections of the transcript omitted by HRAG have been added in red bold text and placed in square brackets e.g. [text], and those that are in error have been highlighted in blue bold text and placed in parentheses - to be treated as deletions e.g. {text}.
The transcript format, including CAPITAL LETTER TEXT placed in brackets (HRAG's explanatory notes), is an exact reproduction of the document produced by HRAG. Counsel for the appellant were satisfied that it was accurate, with the exception of the omissions noted in red, and the errors noted in blue. They considered some aspects of HRAG's explanatory notes as an unjustified intrusion into the transcript. eg. the comments (highlighted in violet bold text) on "Project 10": [IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT PROJECT 10 IS AVAILABLE IN THE CALIFORNIA AREA ONLY, AND IS AIMED AT THOSE CHILDREN AGED SIXTEEN AND OVER WHO IDENTIFY AS GAY OR BISEXUAL].

(CUT TO A SCENE OF LEGS OF PEOPLE WALKING TOWARDS CAMERA, START SINISTER MUSIC).
Voice Over:There is a killer in our midst. It is one of the most serious health problems that we have ever faced. It threatens our very existence. It is AIDS. (CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLES LEGS WALKING AWAY FROM CAMERA) Because America's leaders have refused to track the disease it's hard to know how many are infected. (CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLES LEGS WALKING TOWARDS CAMERA) As to it's range, somewhere between two and ten million. So far the (CUT TO A SCENE OF TWO MEN HOLDING EACH OTHERS WAIST) male homosexual community has been attacked the hardest. (CUT TO SLOW MOTION SCENE OF TWO MEN DANCING IN CROWD ONE WEARING A LEATHER JACKET THE OTHER A GREY TOP) Many are unaware that they are contagious and continue to infect others with this fatal virus. (CUT TO A SCENE OF A PERSON IN SURGICAL GOWN AND MASK ADJUSTING THE FLOW OF AN INTRAVENOUS DRIP) Thousands of haemophiliacs (CUT TO A SCENE OF ELDERLY MAN IN HOSPITAL BED), blood transfusion recipients (CUT TO A SCENE OF PERSON SHOOTING UP), and intravenous drug abusers have also died. (CUT TO A SCENE OF CROWD OF PEOPLE) And with aggressive rapidity AIDS is now preying among our heterosexual population. (CUT TO A SCENE OF A PERSON IN WHEELCHAIR. A PERSON TO THE LEFT OF THE SCREEN IS WEARING A TOP WITH AN OCTAGONAL STOP SIGN ON IT WITH THE WORDS "STOP AIDS". ZOOM OUT. FADE TO GREY SCREEN) At present there is no cure, for AIDS.
(FADE TO TITLE PAGE "PINK TRIANGLE LIBERATION PRODUCTIONS PRESENTS" IN YELLOW OVER AN UPRIGHT OUT OF FOCUS PINK TRIANGLE. VOICES AND NOISES IN THE BACKGROUND SUGGEST A HOSPITAL SCENE. FADE OUT TITLE, FADE IN THE WORDS "AIDS WHAT YOU HAVEN'T BEEN TOLD". FADE OUT TO GREY SCREEN. FADE IN A SCENE OF A PERSON IN A HOSPITAL BED, SEEN THROUGH AN OPEN DOOR. WORDS SUPERIMPOSED READ "PART ONE, WHAT IS AIDS?". FADE OUT SOUNDS AND PICTURE TO GREY SCREEN, FADE IN TITLE PAGE OF THE "SURGEON GENERALS REPORT ON ACQUIRED IMMUNE DEFICIENCY SYNDROME")
Steven Larson (voice over)AIDS is an acronym standing for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (CUT TO A SCENE OF "DR. STEVEN F. LARSON, INFECTIOUS DISEASES SPECIALIST") It's a clinical diagnosis of the end stage of a virus infection with Human Immune deficiency Virus.
(CUT TO PICTURE OF HIV 1 VIRUS)
Michael Gebott (voice over):What you are looking at is the, the known causative agent of the disease AIDS. (CUT TO PICTURE OF CELLS REING ATTACKED, LABELLED "HIV 1, HUMAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS") Um, this is the HIV one virus. (CUT TO A SCENE OF "MICHAEL GEBOTT, AIDS RESEARCHER") Ah, it's a very, it's a very interesting organism, and it's uniquely designed, ... to um, (CUT TO PICTURE OF CELLS) live successfully, in a cell.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF "DR HAROLD JAFFE, CHIEF OF EPIDEMIOLOGY, CDC").
Harold Jaffe :Once somebody's infected with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus, the virus attacks certain kinds of, white blood cells, which are (CUT TO A PICTURE OF BLOOD CELLS) critical to the immune system. When that happens the person develops (CUT TO A SCENE OF ROW UPON ROW OF PEOPLE IN WHEELCHAIRS BEING PUSHED BY OTHERS N A DEMONSTRATION) what we call immune deficiency. And when people have immune deficiency, they become (CUT TO PICTURE OF ULCERATION SCARS ON A LIMB) susceptible to a whole variety of very (CUT TO A SCENE OF ULCERATION SCARS ON THE SOLE OF A FOOT) serious infections, and even some kinds cancers, that people with normal immune systems would not be, ah, susceptible to.
(CUT TO A BLACK AND WHITE PICTURE OF BLOOD CELLS)
Michael Gebott (voice over) :When the virus gets into the blood stream, immediately it starts looking for a (CUT TO A SCENE OF T-CELLS WITH ARROW POINTING AT AN HIV PARTICLE) particular type of white blood cell, that is the master control of our defence mechanism in the body.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF HAROLD JAFFE).
Harold Jaffe: Certain kinds of white blood cells called T-cells, are really the (CUT TO A COLOUR PICTURE OF T-CELLS WITH HIV PARTICLES ON THEM) central element in our immune response and our ability to combat (CUT TO A SCENE OF HAROLD JAFFE) a whole variety of infections. Once these cells are knocked out by the AIDS virus (CUT TO A SCENE OF A WOMAN IN A HOSPITAL BED, SEEN THROUGH A SLIGHTLY OPEN DOOR) then we become susceptible to many serious conditions.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF STEVEN LARSON)
Steven Larson:Once the virus has attached, to the specific, type of white cell (CUT TO A COLOUR PICTURE OF A T-CELL), the CD 4 lymphocyte, then the virus penetrates the cell (CUT TO A COLOUR PICTURE OF REPLICATING HIV PARTICLES), duplicates its genetic material, which is then added to the genetic material of the lymphocyte. (CUT TO A SCENE OF STEVEN LARSON) Now lymphocytes exist for a long periods of time within the body, therefore it's felt that once infection (CUT TO A SCENE OF A MAN IN A WHEELCHAIR IN THE RALLY IN THE PARK) has occurred with this virus, then the infection, or at least the potential (CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLE IN A CROWD, EITHER IN THE MARCH, OR PREPARING FOR IT) for reactivation of the infection, is lifelong.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF MICHAEL GEBOTT)
Michael Gebott :Infection by retroviruses is permanent. Once you are infected, you never lose it. You never lose it because (CUT TO A BLACK AND WHITE PICTURE OF CELLS REPLICATING) the genetic material of the Virus, becomes incorporated into the (CUT TO A COLOURED PICTURE OF A T-CELL) genetic
material of the cell that's parasitised
(CUT TO A SCENE OF "DR CHARLES SCHABLE, CHIEF OF SEROLOGY, CDC")
Charles Schable :The AIDS virus tricks the body, into making an anti-body, that essentially does nothing, to kill the virus that's floating around in your blood.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLE WALKING ON A CROWDED FOOTPATH, SEEN THROUGH A CHAIN LINK FENCE).
Steven Larson (voice Over) :Once the patient acquires Human Immune deficiency Virus, the patient will feel well for several years. (CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLE WALKING ALONG A FOOTPATH) Incubation period from onset of viral infection to the development of symptoms ranges from three to seven years (CUT TO A SCENE OF STEVEN LARSON), and may, in fact, be ah, longer than that.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLE DANCING AT A NIGHT CLUB)
Michael Gebott (voice over) :People can be ah, have the virus and be infectious for ah, (CUT TO ANOTHER SCENE OF PEOPLE DANCING AT A NIGHT CLUB, PAN RIGHT) seven eight nine years, and (CUT TO ANOTHER SCENE OF PEOPLE DANCING AT A NIGHT CLUB, TAKEN FROM CEILING, SPIN TO RIGHT) the diseased state may not be shown. Ah, I think it's only a matter of (CUT TO ANOTHER FLOOR LEVEL SCENE OF PEOPLE DANCING AT A NIGHT CLUB) getting enough years history, and we'll probably find out that people can be, ah infected a lot longer (CUT TO ANOTHER SCENE OF PEOPLE DANCING AT A NIGHT CLUB, TAKEN FROM CEILING) before they really start ah, developing, ah, symptoms of the disease.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF "DR JOHN WARD, MEDICAL EPIDEMIOLOGIST, CDC")
John Ward:Someone who's infected with the AIDS virus may be completely, ... free of
any symptoms. They may be, you know, (CUT TO A SCENE OF PERSON IN A GYM DOING BICEPS EXERCISES WITH DUMBBELLS) strong, vigorous, and in very good, ah, (CUT TO A SCENE OF A MAN'S TORSO, WELL DEFINED, AND POSING) health, even though he's infected with this virus.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF A CROWD, WALKING FROM THE LEFT, PAST THE CAMERA)
Voice Over:Many people with AIDS appear healthy. However, they are contagious and
can infect others. (CUT TO A SCENE OF A CROWD WAITING, CAMERA MOVES THROUGH THEM) Every carrier of the virus will eventually become susceptible to life threatening diseases.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF A YOUNG MAN'S FACE, ZOOM OUT SLOWLY)
John Ward (voice over): AIDS means that this person has severe opportunistic illnesses, mean illnesses that, say, only when their immune system in the body is malfunctioning (CUT TO A SCENE OF JOHN WARD). These opportunistic illnesses are very, very difficult to treat, and the mortality therefore from these illnesses is very high.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF A MAN WITH A BEARD IN A HOSPITAL BED).
Michael Gebott, (voice over): AIDS itself is really the end stage of this infection. Ah, generally the individual that, um, Ah, is in this end stage does not die of AIDS itself (CUT TO A SCENE OF A PERSON IN A WHEELCHAIR IN THE MARCH), dies from some other generally opportunistic disease, that ah, normally would not bother them.
** Peter (voice over) :A couple months (CUT TO A SCENE OF "PETER, HOMOSEXUAL/AIDS PATIENT") ago my life took a drastic change, I was admitted into a hospital, and told, I had pneumo-cystus pneumonia.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF MICHAEL GEBOTT)
Michael Gebott:Infection with a form of pneumonia, called pneumo-cystus carinii, which is an opportunistic protozoan parasite. It's very, very common.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF A MAN IN A WHEELCHAIR, ANON ONE)
Anon One :I went into a hospital June 9th, with pneumo-cystus pneumonia which
is what fifty-two percent of all AIDS patients come down with first.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF ANOTHER MAN IN A WHEELCHAIR, ANON TWO)
Anon Two :I've had pneumo-cystus pneumonia, and I've had three different types
of cancer ...
(CUT TO A SCENE OF "PETER")
Peter:Since then I have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, ... and now I have a lesion in my brain called toxo [TOXOPLASMOSIS]. I also have a lesion in my intestines, and neuropathy in my feet, my legs ... And a fear of many other things happening.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF ANON TWO)
Anon Two:.. then they found a cryptococcus in August, August, and they cut my lung open...
(CUT TO A SCENE OF MICHAEL GEBOTT)
Michael Gebott:... situation is um, Kaposi's sarcoma, a type of ah, cancer, that affects the, ah, capillaries, and the ah, particularly (CUT TO PICTURE OF THE BEGINNING OF KAPOSI'S SARCOMA ON SOMEONE'S BACK, ZOOM OUT) on the, ah, surface of the skin, and they ah, (CUT TO CLOSE UP SCENE OF SOMEONE, {LATER IDENTIFIED AS SEAN}, ROLLING UP THEIR SLEEVE TO SHOW KAPOSI'S SARCOMA ON ARM. THEIR FACE IS NOT SEEN) develop these ah, purple blotches, and potentially lesions on the, ah, on the extremities.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF "SANDY, HOMOSEXUAL/AIDS PATIENT")
Sandy: I have Kaposi's sarcoma, that's a disease that has these lesions. I don't have them
on my face, I have them on my body.
**(CUT TO A SCENE OF 'SEAN, AIDS PATIENT")
Sean:These spots that are on my arm right here, these are called Kaposi's sarcoma.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF "DR JACOB FLEISHMAN, TREATED FIRST AIDS PATIENT IN
CA")
Jacob Fleishman :This particular cancer, in a patient who has AIDS, is a very aggressive, malignant disease; usually fatal within a month to, a years time.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF "SEAN")
Sean :These lesions eventually spread down here to my feet. (CUT TO A SCENE OF SEAN'S LEG) It starts to work like a tourniquet; as you grow lesions on the other side.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF MICHAEL GEBOTT)
Michael Gebott:Ah, there can be ah, lesions of mucus membranes. There can be a variety of yeast infections, affecting, ah, these individuals; ah, inflammation of the spinal column, meningitis, ah, or the brain, encephalitis.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF ANON ONE)
Anon One :Before I was even outta hospital, I came down with fungal meningitis, which I still have and for which there is no cure for me (CUT TO A SCENE OF AN OPERATING THEATRE IN A HOSPITAL) I've had blood transfusions, four CAT scans, ultra-sounds, dialysis My kidney failed for a while because of medication. I've had a couple of brain surgeries, ...
(CUT TO CLOSE UP OF ECG MACHINE IN OPERATION)
Jacob Fleishman :In addition to ah, capability of it's method (CUT TO A CLOSE UP OF AN OPERATION) of exposing the patient to unusual opportunistic infections it can directly infect (CUT TO A SCENE OF JACOB FLEISHMAN) clearly the central nervous system which of course includes the brain and can cause serious damage there.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF A CROWD, WITH THE CAMERA MOVING THROUGH THE
PEOPLE)
Michael Gebott (voice over) :AIDS can also, ah, seek out certain brain cells, and can selectively grow in them as well (CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLE IN MARCH, WALKING PAST CAMERA FROM THE RIGHT, NOISE OF MARCH IN THE BACKGROUND) and these individuals can, ah, walk around in, ah, a, with um, (CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLE IN PARK BEFORE OR AFTER MARCH) a progressive, form of ah, brain disease, ah, that (CUT TO A SCENE OF MALE CHEER-LEADER WALKING THROUGH THE PARK, HE HIGH KICKS AS HE PASSES THE CAMERA) results in dementia, a basic inability (CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLE IN THE MARCH WALKING TOWARDS AND AROUND THE CAMERA) to function, mentally, and all other symptoms ah, can be absent.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF JOHN WARD)
John Ward :Ah, people may get ah, um, signs of dementia, ah, personality changes, losses of memory, ah, difficulties in calculating figures and this type of thing, because the virus will infect um, (CUT TO A CROSS SECTION OF THE BRAIN, INSIDE THE HEAD) uh, the brain, cause inflammation and disruption of neurological function.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF THE CAPITOL BUILDING, WASHINGTON DC)
Michael Gebott:Several months ago the Federal Government, ah, class, began to classify these (CUT TO A SCENE OF MEN DANCING IN THE PARK, WITH OTHERS WATCHING SOMETHING THAT MAY BE HAPPENING ON A STAGE) individuals with AIDS caused dementia as full blown AIDS, and (CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLE AT THE SAME GATHERING, ONE MAN WITH A "SILENCE = DEATH" T-SHIRT ON, AND DYED BLUE HAIR, IS DANCING WITH HIS ARMS OVER HIS HEAD) overnight the population of AIDS individuals (CUT TO A SCENE OF TWO MEN HUGGING, THEN KISSING) in this country rose twenty percent (CUT TO A SCENE OF MICHAEL GEBOTT), just by a change in classification.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF JACOB FLEISHMAN)
Jacob FleishmanOnce you have the full blown ... AIDS ... entity, then it is clearly one hundred per cent fatal. (CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLE IN WHEELCHAIRS AT GATHERING, WITH BANNER ABOVE THEM READING "PEOPLE WITH AIDS-ARC") Eighty per cent of people will be dead within two years.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF CHARLES SCHABLE)
Charles Schable :If you get AIDS, you're in big trouble. You are not going to live very long. Very Long being a matter of months, or a year. (CUT TO THE SCENE OF A MAN WITH A BEARD IN A HOSPITAL BED AGAIN) And that's what scary about AIDS.
Jacob Fleishman (voice over): I've taken care of many patients with AIDS and that's a disease (CUT TO A SCENE OF JACOB FLEISHMAN) that will take a healthy robust individual (CUT TO A SCENE OF A YOUNG MAN IN A HOSPITAL BED, WHO ONLY HAD HIS FACE SHOWN PREVIOUSLY) and literally make skeletons of them, in short periods of time. A very devastating illness
(CUT TO A SCENE OF A YOUNG MAN WITH DARK CURLY HAIR, ANON THREE, AND WEARING A STRIPED TANK TOP, TALKING TO THE CAMERA)
Anon Three:And Jim was ah, I don't know, he was a big guy, you know; and ah, this was a man that ah, really literally just disintegrated in front of my eyes, and ah, it was real sad to see ... somebody .. just ... kind of shrivel into nothing.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF PHOTOS OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE DIED OF AIDS RELATED CAUSES, WITH THEIR NAMES, OCCUPATIONS, CITY OR TOWN THEY LIVED IN AND A SHORT EPITAPH UNDER EACH ONE, PAN RIGHT; FADE TO ANOTHER LINE, PAN
LEFT; ANOTHER LINE, PAN RIGHT; ANOTHER LINE, PAN LEFT)
Michael Gebott, (voice over):What, what most concerns me about this disease AIDS, is that so far there is no cure, so far no-one has survived the full blown, ah, AIDS disease. (FADE IN SINISTER MUSIC) This may very well be the, the next plague to go across our planet.
(FADE TO A GREY SCREEN, FADE TO A SCENE OF TWO MEN IN A CROWD HOLDING EACH OTHERS SHOULDERS, TITLE READS "PART TWO, HOW IS AIDS
TRANSMITTED" FADE TO A GREY SCREEN, FADE IN BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPH OF TWO MEN TOASTING WITH CHAMPAGNE GLASSES. WORDING
SUPERIMPOSED READS "PRIMARY MODES OF TRANSMISSION, 1. SEXUAL, HOMOSEXUAL/HETEROSEXUAL)
Harold Jaffe, (voice over)This virus can be spread in one of three ways. It can be spread sexually from men to women, from women to men, and also between men. (CUT TO A BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPH OF A PERSON HANDING ANOTHER AN INTRAVENOUS FIT, THE TITLE CHANGES TO "PRIMARY MODES OF TRANSMISSION, 2. EXPOSURE TO BLOOD SHARING NEEDLES/ TRANSFUSION") It can be spread by ah, exposure to blood for example through drug abusers sharing needles, or receiving transfusions. (CUT TO A BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPH OF A CHILD IN AN INCUBATOR, THE TITLE CHANGES TO "PRIMARY MODES OF TRANSMISSION, 3. MOTHER TO CHILD, DURING PREGNANCY/NURSING") And it can be spread from mother to a new born child. We know, for example (CUT TO COLOUR PICTURE OF PERSON GIVING OR RECEIVING BLOOD THROUGH TRANSFUSION), that there are people who received a single unit of infected blood, who became infected themselves. (CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLE IN WHEELCHAIRS MOVING TOWARDS THE CAMERA WHILE CLAPPING) We know of people who were probably infected through a single episode of sexual contact.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF CHARLES SCHABLE)
Charles Schable :It's conceivable that one virus particle can cause disease.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLE AT THE PARTY IN THE PARK)
Harold Jaffe, (voice over) :Most AIDS patients in this country are either homosexual or bisexual men (CUT TO A SCENE OF SOME-ONE HEATING A TEASPOON WITH MATCHES, HANDS ONLY ARE SHOWN), or intravenous drug abusers. (CUT TO A SCENE OF AN ELDERLY MAN IN A HOSPITAL BED) We have a smaller number of AIDS patients who have haemophilia, had been transfusion recipients, (CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLE WALKING AWAY FROM THE CAMERA) or have been the heterosexual partners of people infected with the virus. (CUT TO A SCENE OF TWO PEOPLE HOLDING EACH OTHER IN A CROWD IN THE PARK) We don't know why it, happened that homosexual men and (CUT TO A SCENE OF A SEATED BLACK MAN IN A WHITE SINGLET, PAN DOWN HIS ARM TO SHOW HIM PREPARING A FIT) drug abusers were ... exposed to the AIDS virus early in the epidemic. (CUT TO A SCENE OF HAROLD JAFFE) But once that happened the virus spread very rapidly in those populations. We know that gay men who had (CUT TO A SCENE OF MEN IN A CROWD; TWO HOLDING ONTO EACH OTHER, ANOTHER USING THE SHOULDERS OF ONE OF THEM TO HELP HIM GAIN MORE HEIGHT WHEN HE JUMPS UP) multiple partners and were participating in - (CUT TO A SCENE OF THREE MEN; INCLUDING ANON THREE WHO IS HOLDING ONTO ONE OF THE OTHERS) certain sexual practices were (CUT TO A SCENE OF THREE MEN IN THE MARCH HOLDING ONTO EACH OTHERS SHOULDERS) very the virus to their sex partners.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF "HOMOSEXUAL ACTIVIST" IN THE GATHERING AT THE PARK WEARING A BLACK "SILENCE = DEATH" TOP, ANON FOUR)
Anon Four:I've been diagnosed for five years, I learned Monday that I have the wasting syndrome, which falls under the AIDS diagnoses, and ah, I did have a lover who died of AIDS in ... January of this year.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF ANOTHER MAN IN THE PARK, LABELLED AN "AIDS PATIENT", ANON FIVE)
Anon Five :Yes I'm part of the gay, gay community, I'm also a recovering, um, IV drug user...
(CUT TO A SCENE OF A BLACK MAN USING FIT AS BEFORE, THEN HANDING THE NEEDLE ON TO ANOTHER PERSON)
Harold Jaffe, (voice over) :We know that needle sharing is very common for IV drug abusers, and that (CUT TO A SCENE OF A MAN TAKING NEEDLE OUT OF HIS ARM, SOME BLOOD APPEARS) is a very efficient way to spread the virus.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF MAN AT THE GATHERING IN THE PARK, ANON SIX)
Anon Six :I got AIDS through IV drug use. Ah, I was diagnosed in um, January of 87.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF "WILLIAM DANNEMEYER, US CONGRESSMAN" WITH THE US FLAG ON A POLE BEHIND HIM)
William Dannemeyer:One to four million people in America have the virus, nobody knows for sure because they haven't been reporting it. Ninety per cent of those that have the virus don't know they have it.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLE IN THE MARCH, WALKING TOWARDS THE CAMERA. ONE WOMAN WEARING A T-SHIRT SAYING AIDS WALK")
Michael Gebott, (voice over)We have a large pool of infected individuals out there that ah, no one knows who and where they are (CUT TO ANOTHER SCENE OF PEOPLE IN THE MARCH); and ah, they are continuing to spread this, ah, disease, ah, without even knowing they're doing that.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF TWO MEN HOLDING ON TO EACH OTHER, BOTH SEEN EARLIER. ONE IS TOPLESS, ANON SEVEN, THE OTHER IS WEARING A BLACK TSHIRT)
Anon Seven:(laughter), honestly, I don't know him, I only met him yesterday. He's from Detroit and I'm from Los Angeles, and we're just, ah, enjoying the warm weather.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF A YELLOW SIGN WITH MALE AND FEMALE SIGNS IN BLACK, AND RED WRITING SAYING "GAY LOVE IS GOOD LOVE")
Voice Over:A moderately active homosexual, can average thirty to fifty (CUT TO A SCENE OF TWO MEN IN SUITS WITH RED CARNATIONS IN THEIR BUTTON HOLES, THEY KISS) different sexual partners a year. (CUT TO A SCENE OF MEN DANCING AT A PARTY IN A MARQUEE) And those homosexuals who frequent gay resorts or bath houses (CUT TO A SHOT OF AN ADVERT FOR MELROSE BATHS IN LOS ANGELES, "WE NEVER CLOSE"), can be involved in sexual orgies with (CUT TO A SHOT OF TWO MEN LOOKING AT EACH OTHER IN A SPA POOL. IT LOOKS LIKE AN ADVERT FROM THE SEVENTIES) ten to fifteen partners a night, resulting in more (CUT TO ANOTHER SCENE OF THE PARTY IN THE MARQUEE) than five hundred sexual partners a year. (CUT TO A SHOT OF HIV/AIDS AND SAFER SEX PAMPHLETS, ZOOM IN SLOWLY) Rather than eliminating all sexual behaviour, safe sex propaganda promotes the notion that a homosexual can diminish the risk of catching AIDS with fewer partners, or less sexual activity.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF MAN IN THE PARK, LABELLED "HOMOSEXUAL ACTIVIST"; ANON EIGHT)
Anon Eight:I have fewer partners, um, I'm more careful at who I pick as a partner ...
(CUT TO A SCENE OF ANOTHER MAN, ALSO LABELLED "HOMOSEXUAL ACTIVIST"; ANON NINE)
Anon Nine:I slowed down on my pace a lot ...
(CUT TO A SCENE OF ANOTHER MAN IN THE PARK, ALSO LABELLED "HOMOSEXUAL ACTIVIST"; ANON TEN)
Anon Ten :Before, I may not have, have known somebody real well before I went to bed with them; and now, and now I really date them, and go to the movies, or go to dinner, or something like that.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF TWO MEN HOLDING ONTO EACH OTHER)
Voice Over:According to two recent studies of homosexuality reported by the (CUT TO A SCENE OF A PARTY) American Psychiatric Association, even if a homosexual has AIDS (CUT TO A SCENE OF PERSON WALKING ON THE STREET AFTER THE MARCH, LABELLED "TRANSVESTITE"), he probably wont stop his compulsive sexual behaviour. (CUT TO A SHOT OF THE EARLIER PHOTOGRAPHS OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE DIED OF AIDS RELATED CAUSES, WITH THE WORDS "'THE MAJORITY OF PARTICIPANTS IN BOTH STUDIES DID NOT CHANGE THEIR HIGH RISK BEHAVIOUR AFTER LEARNING THEY WERE INFECTED WITH THE VIRUS' AMERICAN MEDICAL NEWS {JAN 88}") The majority of participants in both studies did not change their high risk activities after learning they were infected with the virus. (CUT TO A SCENE OF TWO MEN IN A CROWD IN THE PARK HOLDING EACH OTHER) Abstinence is the primary method of preventing transmission of this fatal disease (CUT TO A SCENE OF TWO MEN KISSING), yet for many (CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLE DANCING AT A PARTY, ZOOM IN ON ONE MAN), an unquenchable sexual desire eliminates any moral integrity.
Peter, (voice over) :I know of many people (CUT TO ANOTHER SCENE OF PEOPLE DANCING AT THE PARTY), who once diagnosed are still out there enjoying an evil life of sex. (CUT TO A SCENE OF PETER) Sex is used, to them, as a way out. It is not. It is a form of mass murder.
(CUT TO A SHOT OF A PAMPHLET OR BOOKLET CALLED "AIDS ANTIBODY TESTING AT ALTERNATIVE TEST SITES, A PROGRAM OF THE SAN FRANCISCO DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH)
Voice Over:Since March 1985 a blood test for AIDS has been available to the general public, however (CUT TO A SCENE OF A MAN IN A CROWD WEARING A LEATHER JACKET AND MUIR CAP), many homosexuals refuse to take the test (CUT TO A SCENE OF TWO MEN IN THE CROWD IN THE PARK WHO ARE HUGGING EACH OTHER), presumably fearful of testing positive. (CUT TO A SCENE OF THE MARCH) Today hundreds of thousands of potential AIDS carriers continue sexual activity (CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLE IN THE PARK AFTER THE MARCH), passing the virus onto their partners.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF A MAN IN MARCH, LABELLED "HOMOSEXUAL ACTIVIST"; ANON ELEVEN. NOISE OF THE CROWD IN THE BACKGROUND)
Voice Off Camera: Have you had the AIDS Anti, Antibody test?
Anon Eleven:No I haven't.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF A MAN IN THE PARK, ALSO LABELLED "HOMOSEXUAL ACTIVIST"; ANON TWELVE)
Anon Twelve:Have I? No I haven't.
(CUT TO ANOTHER SCENE OF A MAN IN THE PARK, ALSO LABELLED "HOMOSEXUAL ACTIVIST"; ANON THIRTEEN)
Anon Thirteen:Um, my lover has, but I haven't.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF A MAN, LABELLED "HOMOSEXUAL/IV DRUG USER", WEARING A T-SHIRT SAYING "DEVILS HERE" UNDER A LEATHER VEST; ANON FOURTEEN)
Anon Fourteen :I haven't had the test because there is no cure or there is no vaccine, so there's no logical reason to get a test.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF A MAN IN THE PARK, HOLDING A SIGN AGAINST PROPOSED QUARANTINE LAWS, LABELLED "HOMOSEXUAL ACTIVIST"; ANON FIFTEEN)
Anon Fifteen :I will not take the test for security reasons. I will not take the test.
(CUT TO SHOT OF ANON FOURTEEN AGAIN)
Anon Fourteen :I feel if we don't know whether we're negative of positive, since there's no cure, we won't worry ourselves to death. Worry and fear is the biggest killer.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLE IN A CROWD; NOISE OF THE CROWD IN THE BACKGROUND)
Michael Gebott, (voice over) :Presently something like, ah, seventy five percent of um, the transmission of um, the transmission of AIDS ah, still (CUT TO A SCENE OF A NEEDLE TAKING UP LIQUID FROM AN OPEN METAL CONTAINER) is occurring among the ah, needle users or in the (CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLE IN THE MARCH) ah, homosexual ah, population. (CUT TO A SCENE OF MICHAEL GEBOTT) But there is an increasing amount of heterosexually ah, transmitted AIDS.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF "MORGAN FAIRCHILD, ACTRESS")
Morgan Fairchild :It's not just a problem for the gay community. It's a problem that is moving into the heterosexual community.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF CHARLES SCHABLE)
Charles Schable :AIDS is transmitted in large measure through voluntary acts, particularly sexual acts. So in theory at least people can change their chances of being exposed to the AIDS virus (CUT TO A SCENE OF MEN AND WOMEN IN A BAR), and by changing behaviour you really can affect the epidemic.
Anon Sixteen, (voice over) :I work on a college campus (CUT TO A SCENE OF A MAN IN A UNIVERSITY CAMPUS, ANON SIXTEEN), and I have ah, students who work for me, and I know that those kids are (CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLE ON A UNIVERSITY CAMPUS) probably the most sexually active group in this country, at that age. (CUT BACK TO THE SCENE OF ANON SIXTEEN) Ah, they are completely ah, ignorant about how they can contract it, and they think it's someone else's problem.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF MORGAN FAIRCHILD)
Morgan Fairchild :In New York City, the biggest killer of women between the ages of 20 and 29 is AIDS and that means they're getting it in High School and College.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF A MAN TALKING UP TO THE CAMERA, ANON SEVENTEEN)
Anon Seventeen :The next highest risk group will be straight kids, not gay kids, straight kids. Um, middle America doesn't even know the time bomb that it's sitting in, and it's incubation is seven years, potentially seven years. (CUT TO A SCENE OF FOUR YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN IN A PARK) Infection is already happening in the young people it's already there.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF TWO MEN, BOTH WEARING "STOP AIDS LOS ANGELES" TSHIRTS, ANON EIGHTEEN, AND HIS PARINER ANON--TWENTY TWO)
Anon Eighteen :It's not any groups disease it'll affect mankind totally if we don't stop it.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF JOHN WARD)
John Ward :It's a lethal viral affect, you don't want to become infected with it. You don't want to take any chance of being infected with it.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF CHARLES SCHABLE)
Charles Schable :Heterosexuals have the opportunity that gay men and drug abusers never had; that is to anticipate the epidemic, and to try to control it before it really becomes an overwhelming problem. (CUT TO A SCENE OF A WOMAN DRINKING OUT OF A SEVEN ELEVEN CUP) I think if heterosexuals make no changes at all (CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLE WALKING UP AND DOWN THE FOOTPATH OF A BUSY ROAD), in their behaviour, then ultimately this will become a major problem for them.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF MICHAEL GEBOTT)
Michael Gebott:And the American Public have to wake up to the fact that the only thing that's gonna make any difference, is to begin (CUT_TO A SCENE OF PEOPLE DANCING AT A PARTY IN THE PARK) changing very promiscuous lifestyles that ah, began to develop in the sixties and carried through the seventies (CUT TO A SCENE OF MICHAEL GEBOTT) to a point that ah, ah, we are just doing anything we darn well please, that pleases us.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF A WOMAN IN THE PARK AFTER THE RALLY, ANON NINETEEN)
Anon Nineteen :In all probability I developed the disease through having sexual
contact in the seventies, in the basically free sex society, and my husband died with AIDS.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF JUDITH REISMAN)
Voice Over :Doctor Judith Reisman explains that the (CUT TO A SCENE OF TWO WOMEN KISSING) promiscuous sexual activity of today (CUT TO A SCENE OF A MAN IN A WHEELCHAIR AND A PERSON WHO MAY BE HIS CARER INSIDE A BUILDING OR HOUSE) and its subsequent contribution to the AIDS epidemic (CUT TO A SHOT OF THE BOOK "SEXUAL BEHAVIOUR IN THE HUMAN MALE" BY ALFRED C. KINSEY, WARDELL B. POMEROY AND CLYDE E. MARTIN) can be traced directly to Kinsey's 1948 report on sexuality.

Judith Reisman :Alfred Kinsey was an insect specialist, turned human sexuality researcher. (CUT TO SHOT OF A BLACK AND WHITE PENCIL DRAWING OF ALFRED KINSEY) He and his co-authors favoured um, pan-sexuality (CUT TO A SCENE OF JUDITH REISMAN); they actually had a pan-sexuality research bias, that is they believed that all sexual activities (CUT TO A SHOT OF A TABLE IN KINSEY'S BOOK) were equally pleasurable and desirable (CUT TO A SCENE OF A MAN WEARING A LEATHER HARNESS AND COLLAR), including homosexuality, bisexuality (CUT TO THE SAME SCENE OF JUDITH REISMAN), adult sex with children, anal and oral copulation, um (CUT TO A SHOT OF THE HEADING FOR CHAPTER 22, ANIMAL CONTACTS, OF KINSEY'S BOOK), sex with animals, ah (CUT TO ANOTHER SHOT OF A TABLE IN KINSEY'S BOOK), adultery, and so forth. (CUT TO A SCENE OF THE LOS ANGELES CONTINGENT OF THE MARCH; NOISE OF THE MARCH IN THE BACKGROUND) The homosexual movement, and they're practicing homosexuality if they believe in that, and bisexuality, use the theories of Kinsey (CUT TO A SCENE OF TWO PEOPLE HOLDING A YELLOW BANNER READING "PROUD TO BE GAY") to justify their way of life and practicing what they see as appropriate behaviour.
(CUT TO A SHOT OF A PAGE IN A MAGAZINE WITH THE TITLE READING "IS THE BLOOD SUPPLY REALLY SAFE"; UNDATED)
Voice Over:As early as 1981, Doctors knew of America's AIDS infected blood-banks (CUT TO SHOT OF A MAGAZINE HEADLINE "AIDS, A TIME OF TESTING"), but due to procrastination from public health authorities, testing procedures were not (CUT TO A SHOT OF BLOOD TEST VIALS) implemented until 1985. (CUT TO A PHOTOGRAPH OF A YOUNG CHILD IN A MAGAZINE ARTICLE) During that period more than fifty thousand innocent haemophiliacs and (CUT TO A SCENE OF A COUPLE WITH TWIN INFANTS) blood transfusion recipients were unnecessarily sentenced to death. (CUT TO A SCENE IN AN OPERATING THEATRE) Doctors warned officials that the blood pollution was directly attributable to donations from (CUT TO A SCENE OF A PERSON SHOOTING UP) IV drug users and (CUT TO A SCENE OF SEVERAL PEOPLE STANDING ON SOME STEPS, SOME IN LEATHER AND DENIM) homosexuals. Nevertheless (CUT TO A SCENE OF A PAMPHLET TITLED "THE PROS AND CONS OF THE HTLV-III ANTIBODY TEST"), public health agencies failed to act for three- reasons. First (CUT TO A SCENE OF A PERSON HOLDING A PLACARD SAYING "HOMOPHOBIA IS SIN", ZOOM OUT SLIGHTLY), there was the pressure from the homosexual community which did not want to be discriminated against. (CUT TO A SHOT OF A PAMPHLET TITLE "IS IT SAFE TO HAVE A BLOOD TRANSFUSION TODAY?") Second, health officials did not want to alarm the public about the contaminated blood supply. (CUT TO A SHOT OF A PAMPHLET CALLED "AIDS AND THE SAFETY OF THE NATIONS BLOOD SUPPLY") And third, the blood industry did not want to pay to test the blood. (CUT TO A SCENE OF THE WASHINGTON MONUMENT) It appears that political leaders and public health officials (CUT TO A SCENE OF THE MARCH) are far more concerned appeasing the homosexual community (CUT TO A SHOT OF A PAMPHLET CALLED "AIDS, BEYOND FEAR"), and protecting the Public's state of mind than in protecting the publics health. (CUT TO A SHOT OF VARIOUS PAMPHLETS AND BOOKLETS ON INFORMATION ABOUT AIDS) This reading information was routinely released in an attempt to quell the publics fear of AIDS. (CUT TO A GREY SCREEN, WITH THE HEADING "AIDS CATEGORIES") An example, originally AIDS had been broken into three categories (FADE IN THE WORDS "EXPOSED/ASYMPTOMATIC" START SINISTER MUSIC), those who had been, quote, "exposed" to the virus and were without symptoms (FADE IN THE WORD "ARC"), those with ARC, AIDS Related Complex, (FADE IN THE WORD "AIDS"), and those with full blown AIDS. All three categories mean that the patient is infectious and will eventually die. (CUT TO A SCENE OF THE MARCH WITH THE BANNER "PEOPLE WITH AIDS-ARC") Yet people diagnosed in the first two categories were told they might not be infectious, and may never get AIDS. (CUT TO A SCENE OF TWO MEN LYING ON THE GRASS IN THE PARK, ONE WITH HIS LEGS AROUND THE OTHER) Hence, continued sexual activity was OK.

(CUT TO A SCENE OF A REPORT FROM THE LOS ANGELES TIMES HEADED "SCIENTISTS EXPOSED TO POLITICS OF AIDS")

(CUT TO A SHOT OF A MAGAZINE PAGE WITH THE TITLE "DOCTORS FEAR AIDS, TOO") In addition, healthcare workers were assured that the virus could not be passed to them from their AIDS patients. (CUT TO A SHOT OF A NEWSPAPER HEADLINE "RISK OF AIDS, 3 HOSPITAL AIDES GOT VIRUS AFTER 1 EXPOSURE, ZOOM OUT TO SHOW PART OF A PAMPHLET "AIDS AND THE HEALTHCARE WORKER", FOURTH EDITION, MARCH, 1987) Today, unexplained transmissions to healthcare workers is twice that of the general population. The (CUT TO A SHOT OF HIV PARTICLES ON A T-CELL) AIDS virus is found (FADE IN THE WORDS AIDS VIRUS FOUND IN BLOOD, SEMEN, VAGINAL SECRETIONS, URINE, PERSPIRATION, TEARS, SALIVA, MOTHER'S MILK") not only in blood, but in semen, vaginal secretion, urine, perspiration, tears, saliva, and mother's milk. This fact (CUT TO A SHOT OF VARIOUS PAMPHLETS ON AIDS), combined with public health officials past record of misinformation, should prompt us (CUT TO A SCENE OF A MAN IN FRONT OF WHAT APPEARS TO BE A CLASS, HOLDING UP A POSTER STATING "YOU CANNOT GET AIDS FROM: FOODS, EATING UTENSILS, SHAKING HANDS, THE AIR, TOILET SEATS, SNEEZING AND COUGHING") to re-examine statements concerning the absolute safety of casual contact (CUT TO A SCENE OF A PART OF A PAMPHLET WITH THE WORDS "YOU WON'T GET AIDS FROM A MOSQUITO BITE") and insect transmission.
Gregg Albers (voice over) :People are afraid (CUT TO A SCENE OF A "DR GREGG ALBERS, AUTHOR") that they walk down the street, they shake hands with a friend, they share a glass that wasn't completely washed, at a restaurant, and they could pick up the AIDS virus. All the studies presently show that that is virtually impossible. (CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLE IN WHEELCHAIRS AND OTHERS IN THE MARCH) Casual contact does not seem to be a method of spreading the disease presently; but (CUT TO A SCENE OF A GREGG ALBERS) my greatest fear, the fear of any epidemiologist, or any doctor who understands the spread of viruses and bacteria is that the (CUT TO A SCENE OF THE MARCH, WITH A PURPLE BANNER WITH THE WORDS "PEOPLE WITH AIDS COALITION" WRITTEN ON IT) more prominent the virus is within our community, within society, the (CUT TO A SCENE OF A PEOPLE IN WHEELCHAIRS BEARING DOWN UPON THE CAMERA) more people that have it, the more likely for it to spread by any means (CUT TO A SCENE OF A GREGG ALBERS), including casual contact.

Now please don't misunderstand me. There's no proof today that it is transmissible through the respiratory system, I don't want to alarm someone. But the fear is that it could mutate to the point where it does, or is able to be transmitted through the respiratory system; and of course that's what happened (CUT TO A SCENE OF A STAINED GLASS WINDOW WITH A SCENE OF THREE PEOPLE HOLDING THEIR HEADS IN MISERY) in the fourteenth century with the, with the black plague.

(CUT TO A SCENE OF "JIM JOHNSON, DIRECTOR, PROVIDENCE HOUSE")
Jim Johnson :I remember the first time I tried to use a condom in a sexual act and it broke. Michael Schwartz (voice over): AIDS education is the kinda thing that sounds good to everyone. (CUT TO A SCENE OF "MICHAEL SCHWARTZ, DIRECTOR, FREE CONGRESS FOUNDATION") But what it really turns out to be in practice, is large sums of money going to homosexual interest groups, interest groups that exist for the primary purpose of promoting homosexual activity (CUT TO A SCENE OF A BOOTH ADVERTISING THE LOS ANGELES AIDS HOSPICE COMMITTEE); or to organisations that are set up ad hoc, and which consider it necessary (CUT TO A SCENE OF A BANNER SAYING "NATIONAL GAY RIGHTS ADVOCATES") to protect the legitimacy of homosexual practices. (CUT TO A SCENE OF "SIMON MARSH, HEADMASTER, LONDON SCHOOL", SEATED BEHIND A DESK)
Simon Marsh :My interests, if you can call it that, in the whole area of homosexuality in schools, arose about three years ago when I wrote to the Inner London Area Education Authority Newspaper (CUT TO A SCENE OF CHILDREN GOING INTO A CLASSROOM, SHEPHERDED AND FOLLOWED BY SIMON MARSH), complaining, in as gentle a term as I could, about the (CUT TO A SCENE OF A SCHOOL PLAYGROUND, WITH THE NOISE OF THE CHILDREN PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND) perpetual writing of articles (CUT TO ANOTHER SCENE OF THE SCHOOL PLAYGROUND, BACKGROUND NOISE CONTINUES) about books on homosexuality, saying how suitable it was for young children. (CUT TO A SCENE OF THE SCHOOL PLAYGROUND, BACKCROUND NOISES CONTINUE) One of the most disturbing factors in the current AIDS epidemic (CUT TO A SCENE OF SIMON MARSH IN A CLASSROOM), and, at least we're beginning to admit that we are in a state of epidemic nature (CUT TO A SCENE OF SEVERAL BOOKLETS ON AIDS AND HOMOSEXUALITY, INCLUDING ONES TITLED "AFFIRMATION, GAY AND LESBIAN MORMONS"; "GAY LIFE IN THE HOLY BIBLE"; "YOUR CHILD AND AIDS"), is that the material that is being ... produced, or advocated, to try and combat the disease (CUT BACK TO THE SCENE OF SIMON MARSH IN A CLASSROOM AGAIN), does not in any way include such ideas of chastity, or celibacy, depending on which term you use (CUT TO A SHOT OF A YELLOW "AIDS SAFE-SEX GUIDELINE'S" LEAFLET PRODUCED BY THE SAN FRANCISCO AIDS FOUNDATION) to catching the disease. In fact a lot of the material seems to be quite (CUT TO A SCENE OF SEVERAL SAFE SEX POSTERS, WITH TWO SEATED NAKED MEN KISSING VERY PROMINENT, WITH THE BY LINE "KISS, YOU WON'T CATCH HIV FROM KISSING") deliberately pornographic, and advocating certain practices.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF "GERALD COATES, POLICY ADVISOR, AIDS CARE EDUCATION & TRAINING")
Gerald Coates :One of the problems is that most of the literature that's come out in this country has actually been encouraging people into some sort of homosexual or bisexual lifestyle, or indeed a heterosexual lifestyle. Nobody's actually said, maybe promiscuity isn't helpful. (CUT TO A SHOT OF AN ARTICLE IN THE LOS ANGELES TIMES OF JUNE 4 1988[?] TITLED "EXPERT SEES EPIDEMIC OF SEXUAL DISEASES") Medically, historically, and scientifically that's been proven; the body is not made for promiscuity. And therefore we are doing the young people of our nation a great injustice by saying "just because you had a feeling, just because you had an experience, you must fulfil it".
(CUT TO A SCENE OF SIMON MARSH IN A CLASSROOM AGAIN)
Simon Marsh:There is one particular disgusting little document (HE TAKES A PAMPHLET OUT OF HIS JACKET POCKET, AND LOOKS AT IT, AND THEN OPENS IT UP) which is produced by the Terrence Higgins Trust, which just lists, ohhh, all these things, look, in quite entertaining cartoon form, various types of homosexual activity, how to do it (HE FOLDS THE PAMPHLET UP AGAIN), propagating the concept that such interactive performance is fine and acceptable, and that these are the ways not to get AIDS; basically wear a condom and do what you like.

What we have to do is to educate people to have safe sex.

(CUT TO A SCENE OF WILLIAM DANNEMEYER)

(CUT TO A BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPH OF THREE PEOPLE STANDING IN FRONT OF SOME STAIRS LEADING UP TO A HOUSE, ZOOM OUT TO SHOW THAT IT IS PART OF A GROUP OF ARTICLES FROM NEWSPAPERS) Providence Houses fame spread internationally. (CUT TO A SCENE OF A NEWSPAPER ARTICLE HEADED "EX-GAY FINDS HIS CALLING AS AN AIDS MISSIONARY") Homosexual critics were outraged by Jim's choice to leave their lifestyle, and suggested that such a person was unsuitable (CUT TO A SCENE OF A NEWSPAPER ARTICLE HEADED "DYING AIDS VICTIMS HAVE PLACE TO GO") to run the AIDS programme. In their angry protest (CUT TO A SCENE OF A MAN IN A BED BEING HAND FED) they ignored the large number of people who had been, or were currently being, cared for.

Um, I'm my self again, I feel fine, I've never felt better. Ah, he really saved my life, I don't know what I would have done, if it had not been for him.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF SEAN)
Sean: I'd been down here, about a month or two earlier, um, and I knew Jim, and I just got on the phone and said, Jim, I've got this problem, I'm gonna be out on the street, I need a place to stay. (CUT TO A SHOT OF A BOOKLET TITLED "THE POLITICS OF AIDS". BACKGROUND NOISE FADES)
William Dannemeyer :The politicalisation of this issue has arisen out of the failure (CUT TO A SCENE OF WILLIAM DANNEMEYER. BACKGROUND NOISE STOPS) of public health officials in America to report those with the virus, to public health authorities.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF MICHAEL GEBOTT)
Michael Gebott:Quit dealing with the Aids issue as though we're dealing with a civil rights issue. We are first and foremost dealing with a public health issue. (CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLE IN WHEELCHAIRS AT THE RALLY. BACKGROUND NOISE RESUMES) We have a communicable disease. We have a communicable disease (CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLE IN THE MARCH. BACKGROUND NOISE CONTINUES) that has deadly consequences to anybody that gets it. (CUT TO A SCENE OF MICHAEL GIEBOTT. BACKGROUND NOISE STOPS) and we ought to be at least imposing the normal types of tracking mechanisms that we have in place all over this country for stopping other kinds of communicable diseases.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF GREGG ALBERS)
Gregg Albers :We have no other means of controlling this disease, controlling this contagious process (CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLE WALKING AROUND AT THE RALLY. BACKGROUND NOISE RESUMES), except by the fact that we know who has it, who can spread it.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF WILLIAM DANNEMEYER. BACKGROUND NOISE STOPS)
William Dannemeyer :And, we have this ah, reportability under law for three reasons. One, to gather, statistical information on the size of the problem; secondly, to cure it if we can; and third to prevent the transmissibility to other people.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLE WALKING TOWARDS AND PAST THE CAMERA. BACKGROUND NOISE RESUMES)
Gregg Albers :I fear as well, that there will be no containing of the AIDS virus without some of these public health laws (CUT TO A SHOT OF A LEAFLET HEADED "SHOULD YOU TAKE THE AIDS ANTIBODY TEST". BACKGROUND NOISE STOPS), without the ability to test and report. (CUT TO A SCENE OF GREGG ALBERS) Talk to contacts and say "you may be, lets get tested". (CUT TO A SHOT OF A LEAFLET OR MAGAZINE PAGE HEADED "GAY LOBBY, THE POWER OF HOMOSEXUALS IN THE 100TH CONGRESS". BACKGROUND NOISE STOPS, SINISTER MUSIC STARTS)
Voice Over:As a result of political manipulation by homosexual leaders (CUT TO A SCENE - OF PEOPLE DANCING IN THE PARK. SINISTER MUSIC CONTINUES), people with AIDS who have knowingly infected others, go unprosecuted (CUT TO A CLOSE UP SCENE OF A DOCTOR PERFORMING AN OPERATION IN A HOSPITAL THEATRE. (CUT TO A SCENE OF PEOPLE WALKING IN A PARK. BACKGROUND NOISE CONTINUES)
William Dannemeyer :Let's not kid ourselves. We're dealing with the first politically protected disease in the history of this country. (CUT TO A SCENE OF WILLIAM DANNEMEYER. BACKGROUND NOISE STOPS) We're not reporting a person with a non-curable communicable venereal disease, at the same time as we are reporting a person with a curable communicable venereal disease. It's idiotic. Public health officials can't defend that.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF THE CAPITOL)
Michael Schwartz: There is not confidence, out in the general public, that the Government is doing everything it can tell the truth about AIDS, and to stop the ah, the spread of this disease. I mean, how can you seriously claim you're stopping the spread of AIDS, if you're not even testing people to find out who has the disease.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF WILLIAM DANNEMEYER)
William Dannemeyer: The polls show, the American public, is far ahead of the elected political leadership, on this issue; that is to treat it as a public health issue. But, uhhh, the activists (CUT TO A SHOT OF NEWSPAPER CLIPPINGS HEADED "GAY ACTIVIST APPOINTED TO AIDS PANEL", 'G OV'T BACKS ACTIVIST PLANS", AND "GOV'T AIDS LEADERS AGREE TO TWO ACTIVIST EFFORTS") in the male homosexual community have intimidated public health officials from taking the action that they should that I've described. And, ah, that ah, should be corrected, and can be corrected through the assertion of ah, public pressure, through citizens contacting their legislatures.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF MICHAEL SCHWARTZ)
Michael Schwartz :People are not confident they're being told the truth, because they can see the Government is not doing what it needs to do to protect their families from getting AIDS. They are really convinced that somebody is hiding something (CUT TO A SHOT OF A NEWSPAPER CLIPPING HEADED "BARNEY FRANK THREATENS HOMOPHOBES WITH EXPOSURE"), and they're hiding things for the benefits of protecting themselves from accusations of homophobia.
(CUT TO A SHOT OF A NEWSPAPER CLIPPING HEADED "PART OF A NEW ERA IN GOVERNMENT")
William Dannemeyer:The male homosexual community is a highly organised political, potent, force, in our society. (CUT TO A SCENE OF WILLIAM DANNEMEYER) It has reached the point where, if you are a serious candidate for City Council, Los Angeles, or San Francisco, or New York City, which those three cities essentially have fifty three per cent of the AIDS cases in the of America. (CUT TO A BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPH OF "HARRY BRITT {HOMOSEXUAL}, PRESIDENT, BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, SAN FRANCISCO") If you wanna get elected in any one of those cities to public office (CUT TO A SHOT OF THE COVER OF ADVOCATE MAGAZINE MAY 28, 1992 ISSUE, WITH THE HEADLINE "SCHULTE SPEAKS, WEST HOLLYWOOD'S MAYOR TALKS ABOUT THE MATURING OF GAY CAMELOT"), your chances of winning, are pretty much related to the extent to which you have made your peace with the homosexual community. That is you have signed on to support their agenda.
(CUT TO A SCENE OF ANON TWENTY TWO AGAIN. BACKGROUND NOISE RESUMES)
Anon Twenty Two :If they won't take the steps, hopefully enough of us will get together, get them out of there, and put people in who will take the steps.
(CUT TO A SLOW MOTION SCENE OF "CONGRESSMAN GERALD STUDDS {HOMOSEXUAL}, RE-ELECTED FOLLOWING DISCIPLINARY ACTION BY HOUSE OF

Michael Schwartz :There are a great number of office holders who owe their political positions to the homosexual rights movement, and really can't do anything that would upset that movement. (CUT TO A SCENE OF MICHAEL SCHWARTZ. BACKGROUND NOISE STOPS) We can see them behaving in Congress, we know who they are ...
(CUT TO A SCENE OF DUKE COMEDES ADDRESSING THE RALLY. BACKGROUND NOISE RESUMES)

(CUT TO A SCENE OF THE CROWD CHEERING. CUT TO ANOTHER SCENE OF THE MARCH. BACKGROUND NOISE CONTINUES)
Michael Schwartz (voice over):If they do anything, they do what people tells them, it's because their political careers depend on these people.
